Volunteer Incentive Program

SVTC works closely with several of our event sponsors and provides volunteer support for many of their races including most importantly our own SILICON VALLEY KIDS TRIATHLON. Your volunteer help is what make these events possible. Whether you are new to the sport and want to learn more about how it all works or a seasoned triathlete and want to give back to the sport, volunteering is a great way to get involved.

For those new to the sport,  volunteering gives you a chance to see how a race works.  How to setup in transition, how to move into and out of the transition area, what products others use during a race, what food athletes bring to a race and how to pack up your gear after the race.  It also gives you an opportunity to meet other athletes who you will surely see other races!

Seasoned athletes know how great it feels to have a volunteer cheer them on, provide nutrition or directions at the right time. Volunteering is a great way to meet new friends and be part of a fun and challenging experience. It takes many people to put on a race and have it run smoothly and volunteers are a huge part of making a race a successful effort.

SVTC recognizes and greatly appreciates the time its members give back to the sport.

As a “Thank You” to our own volunteers we have created a new Volunteer Incentive Program (VIP)!

We have selected the 10 events listed below as our qualified Incentive Program races for 2012.

Members get one point for each day they work in the races listed below.  Members get one additional point for each nonmember that they recruit to volunteer (regardless of the number of shifts that nonmember works for an event).  Nonmember volunteers must be 15 years or older to qualify for extra points.  SVTC Kids Tri has a special point system since we really want to encourage members to volunteer.  Each member will get a point for each day worked as well as a bonus point because it is the Kid's tri.  Members still get one extra point for each nonmember guest they bring (but not a bonus point for that nonmember).  Volunteer leaders get another additional point.  For example, if you are the volunteer leader for the bike course you get a point for working the day of the race, a bonus point because it's the Kid's tri and an extra point for being a leader totaling 3 points.  Volunteer leaders are still eligible for an additional point for each nonmember guest.  Another example, if a member works two day, they will get three points total (one for each day, plus the bonus point because it's the Kid's tri).
